1 IntroductionDust devils (DDs) are dry, dusty convective vortices that play a major role in the Mars dust cycle Newman et al., 2002; Basu et al., 2004). Their horizontal wind speeds are intense enough to transport the dust available on the surface into the atmosphere, and there, the lifted dust particles can directly affect the energy balance of the planet by absorbing and scattering the solar radiation (Changela et al., 2021).
