Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko was arrested by the Kerala police in relation to a drug case on Saturday. This development follows an interrogation that lasted around four hours at the Ernakulam North police station. It is worth noting that Shine Tom made an escape from a Kochi hotel during a narcotics raid on April 16 by the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF). Subsequent to his arrest procedures, Shine's medical examination will take place at the Ernakulam General Hospital.

A day after the project was announced, the makers of Soori's next Mandaadi, helmed by Mathimaaran Pugazhendhi,dropped the first-look posters from the film on Saturday. While it was first believed the film could be on the life and struggles of fishermen, the posters hint at a film based on a water sport peculiar to coastal Tamil Nadu. The film is produced by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment, which had bankrolled the Vijay Sethupathi-Soori starrer Viduthalai films by filmmaker Vetrimaaran.

Streamer Hulu is a part of the untitled limited series project based on the famous Murdaugh murders. The crime drama series will have Michael D Fuller serving as the showrunner. He co-created the project with Erin Lee Carr. After the success of Maharaja, Vijay Sethupathi's 51st film, Ace, has become one of the most awaited Tamil films of this year. The latest update from the makers of the Arumugakumar directorial is that the film will be released in theatres on May 23. Ace is Arumugakumar's sophomore after his debut with Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren (2018). The filmmaker is also producing the film under his banner, 7CS Entertainment.

Pointing at the growing level of intolerance in India, filmmaker Rajiv Menon said it would have been difficult to find takers to screen Bombay if the film was made today. In a conversation with the YouTube channel O2 India, the director said that India has grown less tolerant three decades since the release of the Mani Ratnam directorial, starring Aravind Swamy and Manisha Koirala in the lead. The 1995 film depicts an interreligious couple, Shekhar (Arvind Swamy) and Shaila Banu (Manisha Koirala).
