1 Introduction Over the past few years, the popular press has been abuzz with discussion and anecdotes about the rise of “quiet quitting,” which some define as a limited willingness to perform assigned duties and avoidance of tasks not outlined in one's formal job description (Formica and Sfodera 2022). Common examples include refusing to engage in after-hours tasks, working slowly, and refraining from trying to improve work processes (Nimmi et al. 2024).
