I met my local BC Conservative candidate, Tim Thielmann, last week. He was canvassing my neighbourhood here in Victoria as I was cycling back home from the grocery store, so I stopped and introduced myself. I said something out loud I had never in my life said to anyone, least not a Conservative candidate: “I’m going to vote Conservative.” Having voted NDP or Green all of my adult life, switching my vote in this provincial election is a massive U-Turn for me.

Having looked at drug policy in B.C. for the past 30 years, the one thing we can be proud of is our history of evaluating policies, especially those that concern my area, drug policy. Yet on that point, the B.C. NDP seems to be missing in action, uninterested in analyzing the impact of its health policies.
