Making good on his promise to take a more active role in governing D.C., President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday establishing a federal task force to monitor crime prevention and immigration enforcement in the city and create programs to improve public safety and “beautify” federal properties.

For the second straight year, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has vetoed legislation that would have established a paid family and medical leave program in the state. The legislation, which was passed by the General Assembly in February, would have required private sector employers and employees to pay into a new insurance fund that would have guaranteed up to 12 weeks of paid time off for workers who take leave to care for a newborn baby or a sick family member.
