Nothing is ever more exciting than discovering brand-new anime series, especially ones that are not based on a manga. Netflix’s Moonrise is one such series, based on Tou Ubukata’s novel. An ambitious WIT Studios adaptation, the anime series is a space opera through and through, delivering some of the greatest anime action sequences on a grand scale. Yet Moonrise is not without its flaws. The sci-fi epic unfolds over the course of 18 episodes, an odd number for any series.
