    NEW figures have shown that the Dartford crossing netted more than £215 million over the past year, making it a money spinner for the government that brings in more than twice any other toll road in the country reports the Local Democracy Reporter. The next biggest road cash generator is the optional M6 toll in the West Midlands which netted £107,897,000 a figure dwarfed by the crossing take of £215,900,000.

    A COUPLE who hoped to open a church in a disused shop in Grays say they feel “persecuted” after an appeal against refusal of planning application was turned down reports the Local Democracy Reporter. The Eagles Christian Connections church sought planning permission to turn 1 Kingston Parade, Hathaway Road, Grays, into a place of worship and a community hall but planning permission was turned down last year.

    THURROCK MP Jen Craft has issued a statement on winter fuel allowances after the local Conservatives called on her to loose the government’s plan. Ms Craft said: “As the Chancellor has highlighted, the outgoing Conservative Government left a  hole in the country’s finances, the extent of which they kept hidden – we knew that the situation was dire, but not how bad it truly was.  As such difficult decisions have had to be made, such as that to remove universal access to the Winter Fuel Allowance.
