But even on current form he appears imperious: three wins and a second place in his four starts this year would make him the title favorite, were he not a part-timer. In Sardinia, he started third on the road and won. Three-time World Rally Championship event winner Dani Sordo will enter Ypres Rally for the first time later this month, piloting a Porsche 992 Rally GT. For the 60th anniversary of the fabled Belgian event, Sordo will get behind the wheel of an RGT-specification vehicle in competition for the first time in his career, piloting the recently-developed 992 developed by Motorsport Activities – which has experienced WRC engineer Lionel Hansen and former Citroën team principal Yves Matton at the helm.

Taylor Gill can’t stop winning rallies. He stood on the top step of the Rally Sweden podium and did the same in Portugal earlier this month. You’d think he’d be on cloud nine. Part of him might be. Another part is possibly a tad frustrated. “It’s the way it is,” said Gill at the finish of Portugal, having clinched a second consecutive win. It, in this case, is the Junior World Rally Championship’s points system. Two wins from two sounds dominant.
