JACKSON, Mo. (KFVS) - We can hold onto the memories we make, but thanks to one organization, volunteers work to preserve those memories in Cape Girardeau County. They said it’s all a labor of love through archiving, documenting and processing. Walking into the Cape Girardeau County History Center in Jackson is a sight that can take you back. “These are just human interest stories that I have clipped,” said Mary Jo Shelton, librarian. A sight that can take you to a moment in time.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Have you ever waved a driver through who was trying to make a turn? Most times the driver is relying on you to make sure they can turn without getting hit by on-coming traffic. BROESELY, Mo. (KFVS) - A Heartland high school senior found a love through music, more specifically, her violin. For some musician’s, their journey can be full of ups and downs. “For a while I really wanted to quit,” said Daisey Loyd, Twin Rivers High School violinist. The key, is finding the right rhythm, but for Loyd quitting was not an option. “My family pushed me to keep going,” she said. Daisey was just seven years old when she got her first violin. “I had no idea what I was doing,” she said.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - It’s the sound, the technique and the beat that can take you back to a moment in time. That was the case for Nona Nan Chapman as she watched the Cape Central Junior High Jazz Band perform at her nursing home, Chateau Girardeau. “I can tell you, today at 82, they are wonderful memories and they are very comforting,” she said. On Tuesday, Chapman relived the days she spent behind the music stand.
