Brady Bendau is the type of dude who in 20 years will probably be pounding Mountain Dews, grilling meat and watching football with his buddies in his garage. These days he's usually front and center in the student section at basketball games, having a grand ol' time. Don't let the never-going-to-be-confused-with-being-shy personality fool anyone, though. The Highland senior flips a switch when he puts on a football helmet and is ready to rumble on Friday nights.

Football Playoffs: Dante Gentile leads Springfield over Black RiverThe 15th-seeded Black River football team made second-seeded New Middletown Springfield sweat for nearly three quarters of a Division VI, Region 21 first-round game Friday, but Dante Gentile wouldn't be denied. The senior running back scored all four of his touchdowns in the second half, leading the Tigers to a 35-6 victory that was within doubt as the third-quarter clock wound down.

High school football: It's business in the back(field) for Highland's mullet-rocking Tommy ShondelEvery football team needs a mullet-rocking, Morgan Wallen-loving dance master who never has a bad day and is willing to do the dirty work. Tommy Shondel is still annoyed that Wallen, one of country music's biggest stars, wasn't nominated for a Grammy Award, by the way. "I thought for sure he should have won that Grammy, especially Album of the Year," Shondel said Thursday after practice.
