So, this still isn’t great, but if Shōta Imanaga is only out for four weeks, then that’s a massive win for the Cubs. The left-handed starter was placed on the 15-day injured list on Monday, and after the team’s 9-2 win over the Giants at Wrigley Field Cubs’ manager Craig Counsell shared a rather optimistic outlook for Imanaga. A hamstring strain can be a rather nagging injury, so there’s no guarantee how a player will respond.

Cubs didn’t dodge a bullet this time as Shōta Imanaga has been placed on the 15-day injured list after suffering a left hamstring strain during Sunday’s series finale against the Brewers. After already losing Justin Steele for the rest of the 2025 season because of elbow surgery the Cubs have now lost their ace for the foreseeable future.

It’s gotta be Cade Horton, right? Shōta Imanaga has a hamstring strain and the Cubs will find out how severe the injury is after receiving imaging results from the pitcher’s left leg. The team doesn’t have to find a replacement for Imanaga’s next start until Saturday, when the Cubs play their second game against the Mets, so we’ll be waiting for the decision in suspense for the next few days.

Maybe this a meatball take, but it’s hard not to think about why the Cubs didn’t take more precaution with Shōta Imanaga and his hamstring cramps earlier this week because now it appears as though the starting pitcher is headed to the injured list. Imanaga was throwing a gem on Sunday against the Brewers, but he left the game in the sixth inning with an apparent leg injury.

The Cubs are currently spanking the Brewers 10-0 in Milwaukee and Pete Crow-Armstrong just made a Brewers fan throw a tantrum. Luckily Apple TV was actually working and its cameras caught a fan throwing PCA’s second home run ball of the night back to the field and then stayed on the fan long enough to see him crash out. Feed me these tears! Pete Crow-Armstrong crushes his second home run of the game to give the Cubs a 10-0 lead in Milwaukee.
