Columbus junior Meagan Copper doesn’t let much get to her. The defending Class B state high jump champion has plans to post one of the best marks in the state after winning with a leap of 5 feet, 5 inches last spring. “I want to get 5-07 this season. We'll see. I don't want to set my standards too high, but I think two inches is not that different," Copper said.

Montana's fastest guy is taking that speed south. Billings Skyview's Ryan Dierenfield, the reigning Class AA state champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and a five-star track recruit, will be blazing the track down in Knoxville next year for the University of Tennessee. "I didn't think I'd feel it, but you really do end up feeling it. The coach and everyone was super involved. The team was unbelievably welcoming, and it just felt like home to me," Dierenfield said.

BILLINGS — Sometimes life doesn’t give you the best cards. “It was just the hand I was dealt. Now I just have got to find my new norm and ways to navigate it," said Billings Skyview head boys basketball coach James Bulluck. Right around Christmas time Bulluck was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that attacks the central nervous system. His biggest hurdle currently is battling bouts of fatigue. “I got taken into the hospital. I couldn't see out of my left eye," Bulluck said.

For the first time ever, Billings played host to the USA Curling Arena Regional Playdowns, a playoff to compete at the 2025 Arena National Championships this fall. “The big focus of this was trying to find a good middle ground for all three states to have their clubs come and be represented. We could get more teams, more Montana representation, but not excluding the teams from North or South Dakota, as well," said Nick Vertz, the President of the Billings Curling Club.
