    JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Downtown Jonesboro motorists will soon be expected to share the road with bikes. The city installed road markers called “sharrows” on roads to mark cyclist paths. These are marked by green signs that indicate which part of the road cyclists will use when travelling downtown. The sharrows are part of the connectivity plan for the city of Jonesboro.

    JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Traffic in one Jonesboro neighborhood is slowing down thanks to a new speed bump. People living on Medallion Drive were concerned about speeding drivers in the neighborhood. They say the connection between Caraway Road and Harrisburg Lane has increased traffic in the neighborhood, as well as speeding drivers. The speed bump was placed last week. K8 News spoke to several people off-camera. They said they like this change, and those who worked to get it here are proud.

    CORNING, Ark. (KAIT) - Corning police officers will have a little more help on the streets now. The department announced that a thermal and night vision monocular was donated to it. Chief Blaine McClung said the monocular can help officers find suspects or missing people in concealed or dark areas. “At nighttime, if we’re doing some kind of tactical maneuvers, we can use it to see in the dark, kind of tell where they’re at. You can use their heat signatures to find them.

    CORNING, Ark. (KAIT) - Animal shelters in cities across Region 8 constantly deal with overpopulation, but how do smaller community shelters fare? Two pounds in Clay County were so overpopulated that a veterinary clinic resorted to taking in some animals themselves. This is one of the latest efforts in a rural community to prevent these dogs and cats from meeting an unfortunate fate. They say the problem has worsened recently.
