EDINBURGH tennis star Jacob Fearnley responded to a fan deeming him “the next Andy Murray” after his win at the Australian Open earlier this week. The Scots player also praised his dedicated fans, saying their cheers helped him secure his landslide win against Arthur Cazaux. Today though, fans sadly saw Fearnley knocked out of the competition after a loss to Alexander Zverev. Despite his loss, he was praised by Zverev who called him “an incredible player”.

AN EDINBURGH venue is hosting an unconventional event for adults who like to dress as babies, offering a bouncy castle, arts and crafts, and a ball pit. The event, termed the “Littles Lock In” is sponsored by The Dotty Diaper Company who sell adult-sized pacifiers, nappies, and bottles. It is described as a “fully immersive, non-sexual ABDL event” – ABDL meaning “Adult Baby Diaper Lover”. The event is being held this weekend at After Dark, an adults-only club in Bankhead, western Edinburgh.

ENERGY company BT has scrapped its scheme to install electric vehicle (EV) charging points in street cabinets across the UK. Only one EV charging point was installed in East Lothian in May last year, with no further points having been installed since. They initially proposed to install 60,000 charging points across the UK but now, the company has decided instead to focus on the Wi-Fi connectivity issues that many charging points suffer from.

AN EDINBURGH woman has begged the council for the release of her car after it was impounded – because she accidentally paid for parking on the Isle of Wight. The motorist had parked in the city centre on Tuesday and believed she had paid for 15 hours of parking up until Wednesday morning via the commonly used parking app RingGo. However, upon returning, she found her motor gone, with the council having seemingly impounded the vehicle – which contained her house keys – overnight.

A HILARIOUS sticker has been found on the side of a bin in Polwarth, thoroughly telling off locals for not disposing of their rubbish responsibly. Complaints about litter and fly tipping have reached fever pitch in the last few months, with some areas swamped with abandoned items. Just last week, Granton locals reported bin bags full of “clinical waste” left next to overflowing bins in their communal area.

EDINBURGH locals have taken it upon themselves to share some of their favourite spots in the city that often go overlooked. These include remnants of Auld Reekie’s history, such as old signs, doorbells, and doorknockers. Others shared street art, hidden pathways, and aspects of Edinburgh’s incredible architecture that others often pass by. Sharing their secrets online, Scots users were prompted by a request for the most “mundane” things that seem to nonetheless catch their attention.

MOHINDRA Dhall MBE, founder and president of the Scottish Indian Arts Forum (SIAF) has passed away aged 84. Mohindra, originally from Pakistan, was a pillar in the South Asian community in Edinburgh and helped to found Edinburgh’s Diwali celebrations, which occur in November each year. He spoke often of his experience migrating from Pakistan to India in 1947, due to the Partition of India.

EDINBURGH City football players were welcomed onto the pitch last night by a row of fiery red torches set off by the team’s ultras. Edinburgh City were taking on local rivals Spartans FC in the City Cup semi-final at their homeground, Meadowbank Stadium. After ultras found their way to the side of the pitch, they set off pyrotechnics and flares, cheering on their team. Unfortunately, their cheerleading wasn’t enough for Edinburgh City, who lost to Spartans 0-4, seeing Spartans FC into the final.

FORMER Edinburgh Capitals ice hockey player Rob Trumbley has passed away aged just 50. The Canadian played for Edinburgh between 2001 and 2002, scoring 13 goals in the British National League (BNL). His death was reportedly caused by complications from repeated head injuries, and an ongoing battle with mental illness. Many are paying tribute to the player, who was described as a “quiet leader”.
