Robinson's drama began in the first half of the race as he was witnessed doing all he could to keep his baton intact. But just as Robinson rounded the final bend, it all came unstuck quite literally.

Birmingham City are in advanced talks to sign Demarai Gray from Saudi club Al-Ettifaq, talkSPORT understands. Gray would move to the Blues on a free transfer, with the Saudi Pro League side retaining a sell-on clause between 25 to 30 per cent. With Jamaica's exit from the CONCACAF Gold Cup confirmed, the path is clear for Gray's future to be confirmed sooner than later. The Reggae Boyz were dumped out following a 4-1 loss to Panama that left them third in Group C.

Lyon's relegation to Ligue 2 has sent a 'proper earthquake' through French football and there's only one man to blame. The French giants' fate was announced on Tuesday, having been provisionally relegated by the DNGC in November due to their poor finances. The DNGC's ruling came after Eagle Football Group, which owns 77 per cent of Lyon, announced eye-watering debts of £422million last October.
