Super heavy lift floating crane Hebo Lift 10, owned by Hebo Maritiemservice in the Netherlands, raised the sunken superyacht Bayesian from the seabed off the coast of Sicily. Hebo’s 2,200 tonne capacity sheerlegs vessel, previously known as Taklift 4, lifted the 540 tonne, 56 metre-long and 11.5 metre-wide yacht on 21 June. It was 10 months after it sank in bad weather, killing its owner, tech tycoon Mike Lynch, his daughter and five others.

With great regret we report the death of Michael Posener, a long-time crane, construction and publishing industry veteran. Mike died on 19 June, age 67, after a period of serious illness. Germany figured strongly in Mike’s life. His parents emigrated from there before the second World War, reaching the UK just in time as things were getting difficult for many. Mike was born in Westminster, London, in 1958 and grew up in the south of England.

Now marking its second year, the Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement took effect on 31 May 2023.

To make way for building works an historic sculpture in Germany had to be lifted and moved to a place of safety. Weiland Kran & Transport won the long-reach job to relocate the Große Vegetative Skulptur, by leading post-war German sculptor Bernhard Heiliger. It was on display in an inner courtyard at the University of Heidelberg. Impending renovation of surrounding buildings necessitated a move for the valuable 1955 copy of a masterwork.

Roadcraft Crane & Plant Hire in the UK has taken delivery of its first all terrain crane from Chinese manufacturer Sany and put it straight to work on a job in Liverpool. The crane is a 60 tonne capacity SAC600E with a 50 metre, five section telescopic boom and three-axle carrier. Power is from an EU Stage V diesel engine made by MTU and driving through an automatic Allison 4500SP transmission with torque converter.
