The Minnesota Timberwolves stole Game 1 on the road, surprising the nation by beating the Los Angeles Lakers 117-95. Still, he spoke of the dominant victory in his typical reserved manner. “It’s Game 1. We know it’s going to be a long series,” Finch said, deflecting the praise. “We’re not under any assumption that it’s going to be this type of game in Game 2.”“It will be a completely different game, as it is with all these games in this series,” he added. “Just stay on an even keel.

According to NBA lore, on the eve of the 2004 playoffs, former NBA commissioner David Stern joked with the media when they asked if the Los Angeles Lakers returning to the Finals would be ideal for him. “I want the Lakers vs. the Lakers,” Stern allegedly told Dan Patrick. I say allegedly because there is no recording of this moment. There are rumors on Reddit and mentions of the event on X. However, outside of one LA Times article from June 2004, it’s almost as if he never made the joke.

Imagine being on a ten-hour flight without WiFi when you’re traded. That’s what happened for Karlie Samuelson on draft day. On April 13, the Lynx traded their 2026 first-round draft pick to the Washington Mystics in exchange for Samuelson. This was a continuation of an April 13 trade that sent the Lynx’s 11th overall pick in 2025 to Chicago to obtain the rights to Chicago’s 2026 pick outright.

After the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz 116-105 in the season finale, Anthony Edwards offered his thoughts on what matchup he would prefer. “I don’t give a damn,” he said. “Whoever. We ready.”The Wolves locker room watched with the rest of the NBA world as the Los Angeles Clippers closed out the Golden State Warriors, 124-119. With all games completed, the Wolves learned they would be playing the Los Angeles Lakers, a team they have only played once since the Luka Doncic trade.

Julius Randle was trying to keep a straight face while discussing the Minnesota Timberwolves’ season-defining 141-125 road win over the Memphis Grizzlies. “We held them to three points for a long time,” Randle said, talking about the Wolves defense as Anthony Edwards shouted in the background. “Yeah, I’m the best in the world,” Edwards yelled off-camera. “Go tell all the girls.”Randle tried to continue his thought but could no longer maintain his stoic demeanor.

End of 3: 81-65 Lakers Wolves have 10 assists on 23 makes, out rebounded by 7, only shooting 3/17 from distance. Weird game, I know a lot will be made of the Lakers adjustments, but it really just seemed like they did not want to lose game 2.

Half: 58-43 Lakers up TJ had some awesome minutes, +7 in his 6:54, might be hard to justify playing him over Donte in the second half. Wolves only took 3 threes in the second quarter, ball movement for the Wolves also has been pretty out of sorts, just 4 assists on 15 buckets

End of 1 34-15 lakers lead Kind of what you would expect from the Lakers. That being said, terrible quarter from the wolves 2/7 on layups, 0 fast break points, sloppy on defense, especially on the break court and in rotations. Out rebound 7-13 is tough too Refs letting them go
