    The rules, effective since the start of August, will cap tourist groups at 25 people and guides will be barred from using loudspeakers to help the flow of pedestrians and make it more peaceful for residents. There will be fines ranging from €25 to €500 for those who do not comply with the new measures, which were originally planned to take effect from June but were held over until the start of August. The restrictions cover the city centre and also the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello.
