For Indigenous Australians, this means leaving their country and culture behind. An aged care facility in the town of Roebourne is allowing elders to now stay and see out their lives immersed on country. In an area of remote Western Australia twice the size of Victoria, finding an aged care facility is a considerable challenge.

    A man who survived a sting from the world's most venomous fish has likened the experience to being kicked by an elephant. Kacper Krupa, 26, decided to go swimming at Hearson's Cove, a popular beach near Karratha about 1,500 kilometres north of Perth. While swimming in waist deep water about 100 metres offshore he lowered his left hand onto what he thought was the sand. "Something stung me on my finger … I just took the hand out of the water and it was bleeding a little bit," he said.

    Western Australia Premier Roger Cook has labelled a councillor in WA's north an "embarrassment" and has urged him to resign after a controversial appearance on Russian television. Town of Port Hedland councillor Adrian McRae appeared on Russian-state-owned Sputnik TV in an interview on Sunday, in which he quoted a former Nazi party member and attacked Australian and Western media.

    Two mining contractors and a mine operator have been charged over the deaths of two workers in separate mine site incidents in regional WA. A 59-year-old man was killed at the Karlawinda gold mine in the Pilbara in October 2022, just days after the death of a 37-year-old man in a separate incident at the St Ives underground mine near the Goldfields town of Kambalda. Worksafe WA has started legal action against three companies over the death of the two men.
