Much has been said about the Toronto Maple Leafs Core Four and their playoff performances (or lack thereof), but William Nylander has always had a pretty good case for doing his part. In past Leafs playoff runs, specifically the ones that ended early, Nylander was always there to chip in even if the rest of the team floundered.

Watching the Toronto Maple Leafs in the playoffs this season has been somewhat of a fever dream. Not just because they’re in the second round for only the second time in the past 20 years, but because of the way they’ve been playing and the way they respond to adversity. It may have been hard to believe this time last year that the Leafs were simply a coaching change away from making a deep playoff run, and they still aren’t any closer, at least until they advance past the second round.
