    McHenry graduate Bobby Miller made his 2025 debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday against the Colorado Rockies in Los Angeles with mixed results. Miller struck out seven in three innings but allowed six runs on eight hits, including two home runs, and a walk. Miller struck out three batters in the top of the first and was staked to a 7-1 lead after the Dodgers scored seven runs in bottom half. After a scoreless second, the right-handed Miller ran into trouble in the third.

    CARPENTERSVILLE – Jacobs needed someone to play stopper after sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring six runs in the top of the fourth inning against Dundee-Crown. The Golden Eagles had just tied the score at 7, and coach Jessica Turner turned to freshman right-handed pitcher Skylee Ferrante in the bottom half. Ferrante struck out the first batter she faced, the first strikeout from either team, and retired the Chargers’ Nos. 3, 4 and 5 batters in order.

    Cary-Grove graduate Quinn Priester and four relievers combined on a one-hitter to help the Milwaukee Brewers end a three-game skid with a 5-0 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night in Milwaukee. Priester, making his Brewers’ home debut at American Family Field, held the Tigers without a hit until Gleyber Torres smacked double to start the sixth inning. Priester, who pitched five innings of one-run ball in his debut for the Brewers last week in Colorado, struck out four and walked three.

As a freshman two years ago, the Wolves pitcher was well known in softball circles for her intimidating stature and hard throwing. But Prairie Ridge coach Scott Busam has seen Mosolino mature into a more menacing presence – and not because of her fiery fastball. “Freshman year it was the first time she was going against 17-, 18-year-old girls,” Busam said of the 6-foot-1 right-hander.
