The Chargers open training camp in July ahead of their Hall of Fame Game appearance against the Lions on July 31, but the roster heading into the preseason is already set after free agency, the draft, and undrafted free agency this spring. Hello everyone. By the time you read this, it will be announced that Devin and I have taken roles at an expanded version of Wide Left, Arif Hasan’s Substack. Devin is Chief of Content and I am Chief Operating Officer. With this announcement, Two Gap is also going to become the college football and NFL Draft vertical of Wide Left, which means we’re moving. Our archive of posts here should be uploaded to Wide Left’s site by now, but if not they will be soon.

The 321 pound Alabama product has had one of the widest ranges on big boards this year, with some analysts placing him as high as the top ten and others landing as low as a Day 2 grade. The highs with Booker are high - pancake blocks in short areas and flashy knockouts of smaller players on screens.

Tetairoa McMillan did not run a 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine. This made people very angry. Wide Left is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support our work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Then, McMillan was left off the list of attendees at the Big 12 conference pro day, held at the Star in Frisco, TX. People got even angrier: what was McMillan hiding? Why was he scared to run?

This draft class is weird. Not bad, but weird. The quarterbacks are weaker than normal, but because the NFL is a quarterback-driven league, rumors have spun out of control about three passers going in the first round despite obvious flaws. The wide receivers are weaker than normal, including one guy whose 40 yard dash time is such a deviation from his on-field and analytical profile that there are people doing Zaprudian analysis on whether or not the NFL juiced his time.
