Much of America — especially in the liberal cultural enclaves of the Northeast and West Coast — think of Bros as the establishment: the guys barking orders to “buy” or “sell” from their offices while they practice putting.

It was Labor Day weekend, and hundreds of young people — most of them white men — had come together near the University of North Carolina for a music festival to honor a group of frat brothers.
