Rainy weather continues into tonight and Friday. We may have to watch out for a few stronger storms during the rainy periods. Tonight, storms may sweep in late and well after midnight. In addition to downpours and lightning, there is a 1 out of 5 risk for a severe storm or two. Strong wind gusts and large hail are the main severe threats. These storms are possible between 3 am to 7 am, so stay alert if you are up early Friday morning.

Thunderstorms can be quite loud, but there are conditions in which the rumbles of thunder can be boosted. Obviously, a thunderstorm is going to be louder the closer it gets to you. However, the sound the thunder makes also changes with distance. When you are close to a lightning strike, you’ll hear a loud crack plus a rumble. Further away, however, you’ll only hear the low rumble of thunder.

The quiet weather won't last long, as active weather in the form of breezy winds and chances for rain and storms sweep in over the rest of this week. The rainy weather holds off overnight. Instead, we'll see a cloudy and dry sky with highs near 40 degrees. Southeast winds turn breezy. Thursday starts out mostly cloudy with highs in the middle 60s. South winds turn blustery, gusting up to 35 to 40 mph like we saw earlier this week. By the afternoon, stay on your toes for scattered rain and storms.

We catch a break from the windy weather while also enjoying a lot of sunshine come Wednesday. After midweek, however, be ready for breezy and rainy weather to return. The blustery winds settle down slowly through the night. We'll have a nearly calm wind by morning. Temperatures drop to the low 30s under a clear sky overnight. Wednesday is quiet. We'll see a sunny sky and a light to calm breeze from the northwest. Temperatures are close to average and right around 60 degrees.

The weather turns active a few times this week, with windy conditions early followed by rain chances late in the week. We may see a combination of the two overnight. West to northwest winds remain blustery and may gust up to 40 mph at times tonight and Tuesday. Scattered light showers are possible after sunset and before midnight. These spotty showers should exit by sunrise. Tuesday stays blustery and cools off. Temperatures cool to the middle 50s for highs.

Took a sec to think of a goodbye message for @DanCohenTV. I think this paragraph covers it. Congrats and best of luck in Kansas City!! I’ll let you know when I finally get around to Better Call Saul so we can chat indefinitely about it like Game of Thrones. #hodor https://t.co/RvjZpqYtc4
