Since becoming a Documenter nearly two years ago, Detroit native Gabriel Gamlin has covered 12 city meetings, nine of them with the Board of Police Commissioners. He especially likes to see how residents respond to the board’s decisions and how they engage during public comment. “Both as a student and also just as a person, I try to participate a lot in different activism, and it’s interesting to kind of see on the other side of the curtain,” he said.
