The Kiwi collided with Alpine’s Jack Doohan at turn one. Lawson was also penalised and stripped of a points finish in Sunday’s sprint race. While there were still some positives to take away from his weekend, Liam Lawson could have done without what happened in Miami.

    A first-corner collision ruined Liam Lawson’s Miami Grand Prix, as the Kiwi was forced to retire with damage to his car. In a trans-Tasman tussle with Australian Jack Doohan, Lawson’s Racing Bulls made contact with the Alpine at turn one, as race engineer Ernesto Desidero was heard telling the Kiwi that he had sustained damage to his floor. At the time of the incident, Lawson was the lead car, meaning Doohan had responsibility to give him room.
