    Petrobras received the PA-38 jack-up rig for Guaricema field shallow water well decommissioning about 9 km from the coast of Brazil. The rig arrived Apr. 13. Expected operations are part of Petrobras' estimated $1.7-billion infrastructure decommissioning program in Sergipe basin as part of the company's overall 2025-29 strategic and business plan. The rig will carry out intervention activities for deactivation and plugging.

    Turkey contains extensive geothermal capacity which has been exploited through large-scale drilling projects. Data from more than 300 wells revealed abrasion, vibration, thermal, and fluid-loss drilling difficulties. Offset-well analysis showed that vibration mitigation tools, cooling procedures, proper bottom hole assembly (BHA) selection, and specific stuck-pipe practices minimized geothermal drilling risks.

    The US Geological Survey (USGS) released its assessment of potential for undiscovered oil and gas in Maverick basin formations in the Western Gulf basin province. USGS estimates that there are technically recoverable resources of 366 million bbl of oil and 11 tcf of gas in the area, as much gas as the United States consumes in 4 months at the current rate of consumption and is more than 3 times the total historic gas production from Maverick basin.

    PTTEP HK Holding Ltd., a subsidiary of PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd. (PTTEP), has acquired an additional 9.52% interest in its operated Sinphuhorm gas field onshore northeastern Thailand through a deal with Jadestone Energy plc. In an Apr. 16 letter to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, PTTEP said it acquired an additional 27.18% stake in APICO LLC from Jadestone Energy Pte. Ltd. through the acquisition of all shares in Jadestone Energy (Thailand) Pte.
