The Special Boat Service (SBS) is the most elite special forces unit of the British Royal Navy. This `Tier 1´ unit is mainly responsible for maritime counter-terrorism (MCT) and amphibious warfare. Much of the information about the SBS is highly classified, and the unit is not commented on by either the British government or the Ministry of Defence (MoD) due to the secrecy and sensitivity of its operations. The SBS is part of the United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF).
