    (WGHP) — A very warm and muggy start to our Wednesday morning with temperatures ranging from the mid-to-upper 70s and even some low 80s at 7 a.m.!It’s gearing up to be another incredibly hot and humid day in the Piedmont Triad with afternoon highs reaching the mid-90s. Heat advisories remain in place until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and a level 2 risk for severe weather is also in place this afternoon. The heat and humidity will combine to bring a chance for strong to severe storms Wednesday afternoon.

    (WGHP) — The first named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season has formed!Tropical Storm Andrea reached sustained winds of 40 mph around 10 AM on Tuesday, making it the first storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Andrea formed hundreds of miles east-northeast of Bermuda, well out in the middle of the Atlantic and poses no threat to land. Andrea will continue to move east-northeast at 17 mph, making it a “fish” storm as it will only affect the open ocean.

    (WGHP) — Another very hot day is in store for the Piedmont Triad. Temperatures are already in the mid-to-upper 70s early Tuesday morning, and by 11 a.m., we’ll be back in the 90s. Afternoon high temperatures reach the upper 90s, with feels-like temperatures up to 109° possible. A heat advisory remains in place for everyone except Alleghany County until 8 p.m. on Wednesday due to the continued high heat.

    (WGHP) — The heat is on this week. Heat advisories go into effect at 11 AM on Monday and last through 10 AM on Tuesday. High temperatures Monday afternoon will reach the mid-90s and feel-like temperatures will range from 100° to 105°. By Tuesday, extreme heat watches go into effect at 10 AM and will remain in place until 8 PM Wednesday. This is due to afternoon highs both Tuesday and Wednesday reaching the mid to upper 90s, and feels-like temperatures up to 110° possible.

    (WGHP) — Severe thunderstorms will roll through the Piedmont Triad this afternoon and evening. While a cluster of storms has already formed in the mountains and foothills, a line of storms may take over and push through the Triad as we approach the 4/5pm timeframe. Strong to severe storms remain possible through 8 PM.
