Italian company Prysmian Group announced its decision to cancel plans for an undersea cable manufacturing plant in Somerset, Massachusetts. The Fall River Herald News reported that Prysmian representatives delivered the news to the Somerset Board of Selectmen on Jan. 17.

Beverage manufacturer Joriki Beverages announced that it closed its packaging facility in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Local station Newswatch 16 reported that the company notified its 229 affected workers of the immediate shutdown on New Year’s Eve through email. Joriki stated in the WARN notice that it could not provide the traditional 60-day warning.
