The Meadville Bulldogs had plenty of chances, but couldn't find a timely hit in Friday's 7-3 loss to McDowell at Eldred Glen on senior night. McDowell scored in the first to take a 1-0 lead and put early pressure on the 'Dogs. Meadville responded in the second with three consecutive walks to load the bases, but the Bulldogs didn't capitalize. In the third, Meadville stranded two runners on — but yet again — didn't bring anyone home.

SAEGERTOWN — Saegertown stuck to their brand of baseball on Thursday with aggressive base running and solid plate approaches. The result was a 15-2 win over Region 3 foe Cochranton at Ed Acker American Legion Field. The Panthers scored twice in the opener and three times in the second for a 5-1 lead. Saegertown did most of its damage in the third with a seven-run inning to blow the top off the game. kAmx? Meadville put up 15 runs and defeated Warren 15-5 in five innings of Region 6 baseball action on Tuesday at Allegheny College. After an 11-0 lead it looked like the Bulldogs would put Warren away quickly. But with the top of the fourth inning came a steady downpour and swirling winds. Warren capitalized with a five-run frame to keep the game interesting. "Balls were getting wet for sure. But what do you do? They keep throwing new balls in and they get wet too.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS — Wednesday's Region 2 softball contest between Cambridge Springs and Saegertown was an instant classic for fans in attendance. The pitchers' duel went 10 innings, with the Blue Devils winning 1-0 in the bottom of the tenth. "Wow. That's all I can say. Both teams played great, there were excellent defensive stands, the pitchers did a really good job," Cambridge Springs head coach Angie Mumford said. "They took away some hits, there were runners left on base for both sides.

With Saegertown baseball losing to Lakeview today, the Panthers will share the Region 3 crown with the Sailors. Other local region champions are Cochranton softball in Region 2 and Meadville boys volleyball. Congratulations to all three teams and here come the D-10 playoffs!
