The BBC has come under fire for referring to 'people who have periods' in an article about a comedian. In the online piece, Bella Humphries said she was using her medical condition, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), as material about for her stand-up show. It said the condition – which can cause mood swings, depression and anxiety – can 'affect up to 8 per cent of people who have periods in the UK'.

Women are put off having children because of a 'motherhood penalty' at work, according to a study. While figures show just 1.49 children were born per woman in 2022, research has suggested that on average women would like two or three. The study, carried out by think-tank Onward, found factors such as lack of financial support for new mothers and high childcare costs meant families were unable to afford more children.

The Prime Minister has been urged to rethink a 'dangerous' NHS plan to tackle the increasing numbers of children suffering gender identity crises — including a clinical trial of controversial puberty blockers involving teens. Six new specialist clinics will be created by 2026 to support under 18s struggling with their gender identity, NHS England confirmed today.

The militant doctors union last night sparked outrage by vowing to fight the introduction of the landmark Cass review into NHS gender identity services for children. The British Medical Association revealed it will form its own group of members and trans patients to 'publicly critique' the inquiry's findings and bring its own influence on policy. It is opposed to the planned ban on puberty blockers being prescribed to what it said are 'victimised' trans children.

Church of England leaders were forced to act over fears that anger at their £100million slavery reparations fund would hit income from the collection plate. They admitted working with the Church's 'giving advisers' – responsible for encouraging congregations to donate – to produce 'myth-buster' guidance amid the controversy. The C of E announced last year it was establishing a £100million fund for reparations to recognise that it once profited from the slave trade.
