The voting public “are quickly losing confidence” in the new Premier Jacinta Allan, says state Opposition Leader John Pesutto as support for the Coalition improves in Victoria. Speaking at the Liberal Conference on Sunday, Mr Pesutto said he was buoyed by recent polls that showed Labor’s primary vote sinking. “They (Victorians) are seeing corruption around the CFMEU,” he said. “They are seeing inaction by Premier Jacinta Allan. They are seeing no debt plan to reduce debt.

A former adviser to Daniel Andrews has been suddenly sacked as a director of prominent Labor-linked lobby firm amid allegations of bullying. John-Paul Blandthorn, who headed up the Victorian offices of Hawker Britton, was on Friday booted from the firm and scrubbed from the company website. But the senior lobbyist, who is also a close friend and former adviser to Bill Shorten, has vehemently denied any wrongdoing flagging legal action of his sudden termination.

Bushfires have caused a trail of destruction in the Grampians region overnight, and the extent of homes lost is yet to be determined. An emergency warning reamins in place for the Pomonal and Bellfield areas, southeast of Halls Gap. Those residents are still being told to take shelter as it is too late to leave and the bushfire is travelling in a southeasterly direction. Reports have emerged that several homes have been lost but crews will assess the damage to the region at 10am on Wednesday.
