The training burn at 407 Forest Dr. in the town of Plover was attended by about 30 firefighters. Department leaders said the event served as a valuable training opportunity, particularly for newer members who had not yet experienced a live structure fire.

Boone’s K9 Clubhouse celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, hosted by the Portage County Business Council Ambassadors and attended by local officials and community members. Owner Ryan Haga shared his excitement about the venture, which has been in the works since November. “I started this business just about a month ago and opened a week before Christmas,” Haga said.
