    CityFibre has completed the primary build of its full fibre network in Reading. The new network is now ready for service to more than 97,000 homes, covering around 98 per cent of homes and most businesses in Reading and the surrounding areas. Reading is the latest town in CityFibre’s nationwide rollout. Construction began on the £58 million project in 2020 and CityFibre has since laid around 1,230km of dense full fibre infrastructure across the town.

    MLL Telecom has extended its 16-year supplier partnership with Fife Council by renewing the contract by a further three and a half years. The new deal is worth £7.2 million for the company. Fife Council employs around 18,000 employees, who provide 900 different services to more than  365,000 people. The services Fife Council provides range from education, social work, housing and community services to transportation.

    All Points Fibre Networks (APFN) has agreed a deal with Onecom to provide business-grade FTTP connections to its customers. Onecom has already started onboarding to APFN’s Aquila platform, through which Onecom will have access to a network of business-grade fibre premises. Aquila will enable Onecom to access CityFibre FTTP connectivity, allowing the reseller to broaden its offer. One of Onecom’s critical business requirements is for Layer 3 connectivity, which Aquila can deliver.

    BT Group’s revenue declined two per cent to £20.4 billion for the full year to March 2025, due to continued challenging trading conditions and weaker consumer handset sales. This offset Openreach’s FTTP growth and the price increases it made. Reported profit before tax grew 12 per cent to £1.3 billion, primarily due to goodwill impairment in the prior year, offset by higher specific costs and net finance expense.
