On 4 June, U.S. President Donald Trump signed a proclamation that will implement a new travel ban, effective 9 June at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time, restricting the ability of foreign nationals from 19 countries to be admitted entry into the United States. The order prohibits the entry of immigrant or nonimmigrant visa holders from 12 countries: Afghanistan, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, the Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

On 13 January, the U.S. Transportation Security Agency (TSA) issued a final rule to finalize the time frame for the required use of REAL ID as the primary form of identification for airport security screening and to enter secure federal buildings. Under the final rule, enforcement of the use of REAL ID will begin on 7 May 2025, but agencies will have the authority to phase in enforcement through 5 May 2027.
