NEW ORLEANS — Tracking the Tropics: The 2024 hurricane season ends on November 30th. Overall this season was considered "above-average" in terms of activity with a considerable late season increase in activity. There were 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and 5 major hurricanes. Two of those hurricanes were category 5 storms. A total of 5 hurricanes made landfall in the United States this season.
