I’m on my way to Australia for a tour hosted by Small Giants Academy! We’re kicking off with a preview screening of the upcoming Kainos documentary ‘Crossroads’ and a talk at the Byron Bay Theatre on Saturday 22nd of March - get your tickets here. Having been ‘woke critical’ since 2016, in recent years I’ve felt increasingly vindicated as mainstream culture has pushed back against the institutionalisation of social justice theory.

We’ve released another ten tickets to the first screening of ‘Crossroads’ in London on March 14th, and for Australian readers near Byron Bay, we have a screening on March 22nd at the Byron Bay Theatre. If you’re in Melbourne, I’m running a workshop and speaking at the Wisdom & Action Forum alongside Nora Bateson, Tyson Yunkaporta and Julia Kim on April 1-3. “Where do we go from here?” If we thought we knew the answer, we’d be lying to ourselves.

This week, we skirted the edges of implicit and explicit perception. Trish Blain and Schuyler Brown delivered beautiful sessions, and an emerging theme was how we can adapt and thrive in complexity by waking up to our subtle senses. Next week, we’re welcoming author Minna Salami and YouTuber Michael Phillip (Third Eye Drops). Looking ahead, we have sessions with poker pro and YouTuber Liv Boeree, and polymath futurist Jordan Hall. Next week’s sessions are the most eclectic to date.

Hi everyone,In the first week of Kainos, we began an inquiry into the question ‘Where do we go from here?’ in conversations with Jamie Wheal, Nora Bateson and Daniel Pinchbeck. They each offered different perspectives on where we find ourselves culturally and politically, and we covered a lot of intellectual ground. We explored the strange new religions…Keep reading with a 7-day free trialSubscribe to Kainos to keep reading this post and get 7 days of free access to the full post archives.

We have little choice but to go in and through the Big Crisis. That means diving deeper into the messy, chaotic swell of modern culture. We have to understand how culture moves and breathes, how it adapts and changes, and how to dance with it in just the right way if we want to change the tune. And we need to drop the question of ‘What should we do?’ If we knew that, we would have done it.

We’re standing in new territory. The old world order shifts beneath our feet as our minds twist and turn in virtual worlds. We’re connected, but can’t connect. Taught by centuries of history to walk to the horizon in search of something better, we’re faced with the question of whether we know what progress is. Our civilisation is stuck, yearning for transformation. In a time of upheaval, Kainos tells stories that help people make sense of chaos and imagine new futures.
