    The National Railway Museum is gearing up for a landmark year of exhibitions, events, celebrations and a grand reopening, as it celebrates its 50th birthday in tandem with the 200th anniversary of the modern railway.  Station Hall, closed to the public since 2023, will reopen at the York museum in September after the completion of a £10.5m refurbishment project.

    The driver, the sole occupant of the car, a man in his 50s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s family have been made aware. A North Yorkshire Police vehicle had attempted to stop the car a short time before the collision. The A64 currently remains closed in both directions to allow for collision investigation work to take place and this closure is expected to remain in place until rush hour today.
