“Coorparoo Renovation is designed to get its feet wet,” commented the architects. Situated on a flood plain, the site is prone to flooding after heavy rainfall, with water remaining on the property for several days afterward. The clients, a young family of four, found that they were rapidly outgrowing their existing Queenslander cottage but were reluctant to part ways with their beloved home and its park-side setting.

Established by designer and creative Jacqueline Kaytar, a Croatian Australian living on Turrbal and Yuggera country, Studio Kaytar is the evolution of a twenty-year-long design and making career, one that has always been driven by “the act of making.” “It’s been an organic journey of refining my craft and discovering new ways to shape materials,” she reveals. “I began my formal design career as a textile designer,” Kaytar continues.

After the success of its Fitzroy North location, Lovabowl has expanded to Camberwell with a new space designed by Jonathan Howse of Modl Office. The Camberwell fitout has been thoughtfully crafted and embodies the brand’s ethos of “perfect imperfection.” Housed in a historic shopfront, the new venue features a warm and tactile design that evokes the handmade, artisanal nature of Lovabowl’s offerings.
