The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is asking the public for input on a new rail realignment option for the Del Mar bluffs. The agency released a new notice of preparation (NOP) on May 16, triggering a 45-day public comment period before it can start the environmental impact report. This came after public pushback on the three options presented in the initial NOP last year. The twist? The new option is an old one, leaving the route where it is.

Three more victims from the small Cessna jet that crashed into a home in Tierrasanta on Thursday were identified Friday. A federal aviation official said at a Friday news conference that all passengers died in the crash, but did not identify anyone. A spokesperson for Sound Talent Group said its co-founder and two other employees were killed in the crash. In addition to Dave Shapiro, the other two victims are Emma Huke and Kendall Fortner.

It has been more than a year since the Jan. 22, 2024, flood devastated the Southcrest community, and now the city of San Diego is facing 53 lawsuits with more than 1,500 plaintiffs. Former Beta Street resident Jessica Calix is one of those plaintiffs. She said she misses her neighbors and living in Southcrest. “Just walking over here now, I saw one of my neighbors from next door from the flood," she said.
