In 2003, Denise and Scott Mitchell found themselves spending more time walking around The Phoenix Zoo in Phoenix, Ariz. 20 years later, the Mitchells sat down with Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) staff to talk about their journey after recently visiting their 75th AZA facility, Northeastern Wisconsin (NEW) Zoo in Green Bay, Wis. Over the last 20 years, the Mitchells have created a bucket list with the goal of visiting as many AZA-accredited facilities as possible.

July was Disability Pride Month and to mark the occasion and better serve its community, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums became a Sensory Inclusive Certified workplace. AJ France, a member of the KultureCity team, came to the AZA offices in Silver Spring, Md., with office-specific training to provide a better understanding of how the Association can support AZA staff and guests with sensory needs.
