MidTown Collaboration Center on Friday, May 9, opened the door to three new tenants, all within a single space known as The Sixty6. Located at 1996 East 66th St., The Sixty6 is home to The Sixty6 Music Lounge & Studio, Pearl’s Kitchen and Black Frog Brewery. “The way I see this space is just really for Midtown and the Hough area … to grow it and make the community stronger,” said Chris Harris, owner of Black Frog Brewery.

Progress is being made at Belle Oaks Marketplace, the site of the former Richmond Town Square mall, as the leasing center and a Meijer both opened their doors on Thursday, May 8. Belle Oaks Marketplace is a mixed-use redevelopment, featuring apartments and retail, sitting on the entire 69.2 acres of the former mall site in Richmond Heights. DealPoint Merrill, the project's developer, is working with principals Brian Meng and Paul Deutsch of Bialosky, a Cleveland architecture firm.

Kirtland native chef Dan Young has returned to the area after almost a decade away to accept the position as Fidelity Hotel’s executive chef. Young has 23 years of experience in the industry and is the new culinary leader for the 97-room boutique hotel in the Short Vincent District that opened in January, along with its signature restaurant, Club Room. “After being away from Cleveland for so long, I just decided that I wanted to be closer to my family,” Young told Crain’s.
French-Asian bakery to open first Northeast Ohio location May 9

French-Asian bakery Tous les Jours will open its first location in Northeast Ohio, in Lyndhurst, on Friday, May 9. The South Korea-founded bakery will be opened by husband-and-wife duo Jeeho Chang and Ji Young Sung. The shop is at 5268 Mayfield Road. The grand opening is at 10 a.m., but afterward, the store will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. The couple moved to Ohio from South Korea in 2020 for Sung to pursue a master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University.
Soho Chicken + Whiskey to move to former Xinji Noodle Bar space

Soho Chicken + Whiskey will close its doors after service on June 14 at its current storefront in Ohio City and reopen them in a new location, not even a mile away, in late summer/early fall. The spot known for fried chicken and bourbon cocktails has been in its current location at 1889 West 25th St. for a little over 13 years, said Nolan Konkoski, who co-owns the spot with his wife, Molly Smith.
Mayfield Heights property fails to sell at auction

A Mayfield Heights building did not sell during an initial online auction held April 28 to April 30. The 15,003-square-foot, 100% occupied building on 1.13 acres at 6505 Mayfield Road was put up for auction on Ten-X, one of the largest commercial real estate auction platforms in the country. There was “strong interest” in the property and multiple bidders for it, said Karick Brown, associate with Newmark’s Net Lease Capital Markets group.
Chick-fil-A to open first Cleveland storefront in University Circle

Chick-fil-A plans to open its first Cleveland storefront in the University Circle neighborhood at 11435 Euclid Ave. in the former CLE Clothing Co. space. Flour restaurant to open Valor Acres space

After 14 years as a stand-alone location, Flour restaurant of Moreland Hills will expand, opening a new location in Brecksville’s Valor Acres development this fall. It will also mark a new chapter for chef Matthew Mytro, who will run the Valor Acres spot. Lisa and Paul Minnillo, whose resume includes Greenhouse Tavern and Baricelli Inn, opened Flour in April 2011, taking inspiration from the San Francisco restaurant Flour + Water.
Cinnaholic opening in South Euclid this summer
