    From a former Redditor:My kid (15) is currently playing on the JV team at their high school. They have played this sport since they were 6. Up until this past season, they loved playing it. This year has not been fun for them for a multitude of reasons. Some players last year were told they were going to be on varsity, even though it's supposed to be merit-based. The kids selected were all part of the same parent/kid clique group. The JV team does not get the resources due to them.
