LOS ANGELES - American veteran director James Foley, whose films included Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) and the Fifty Shades Of Grey sequels (2017 and 2018), and who also worked on the hit television series House Of Cards (2013 to 2018), died this week at his home in Los Angeles. He was 71. His death came after a year-long battle with brain cancer, according to Mr Taylor Lomax of ID, the firm that represents Foley.

Four people, all of them children or teenagers, were killed and several others were injured on Monday when a car crashed through an after-school center in Chatham, Ill., a village just south of Springfield, the State Police said. The victims are believed to be 18 years and younger, the Illinois State Police Department said in a news release. The car struck three of the victims outside the building and the other inside it, the police said.

A member of the emergency medical services in Kansas City, Missouri, died Sunday after being stabbed by a patient who was being transported to a hospital in what officials said started out as a “routine medical call.”The patient stabbed emergency worker Graham Hoffman, a 29-year-old firefighter paramedic, in the chest, piercing his heart, city officials said in a news release. A suspect was in custody but had not been publicly identified. A motive for the attack was not immediately known.
