The late L.A. writer Eve Babitz has a cult fanbase in Hollywood, thanks to her cheeky prose and her chronicling of some of the key pop culture figures of the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s. That enduring legacy was celebrated Tuesday night at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, where a bevy of Hollywood actresses took turns on the mic. They read previously unpublished letters penned by Babitz, as sourced by writer Lili Anolik.

Stylist Jared Ellner, whose clients include Sabrina Carpenter and Emma Chamberlain, is unveiling the first collection for his namesake brand. “I have always wanted to release a brand,” said Ellner, a Parsons School of Design alum. “I really got into fashion because I have had a dream to be a designer since as long as I can remember. Styling is something that I sort of stumbled into and never really expected. I truly don’t know where I would be without it.
