A line of slow-moving thunderstorms will likely set up across parts of Connecticut Friday afternoon and evening. Between 2 and 8 p.m. Friday, a few storms have the potential to create damaging winds and flash flooding. Frequent lightning and thunder may also be possible through the evening hours. Storms are more likely to train and dump a few inches of rainfall north and west of Interstate 84. The storm threat decreases closer to the shoreline, but showers are still possible through late Friday.

The northern lights may be visible in Connecticut after sunset on Sunday and Monday. A powerful G4 storm is making its way towards Earth to provide the light show. Cloud cover will be gradually decreasing through the next few days. The best viewing time will be between 8 and 10 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. For the best visual experience, go to a rural area away from city lights and look north. Use long exposure on your cameras for the best chance to get a great picture of the spectacle.

After May 2025 officially became the 3rd wettest May on record in Hartford, we begin June on a cooler note. High temperatures will warm into the 60s this afternoon with partly to mostly cloudy skies and westerly wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are also expected this evening, when we have a chance to see the northern lights. If cloud cover gets in the way this evening, there will be another viewing opportunity around sunset on Monday.

There will be some dry time today, but it will be breezy with winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour. Temperatures will likely top out in the 60s for much of the state this afternoon. Rain ends early this evening, and clouds will slowly start to clear out overnight.

Just like yesterday, a few isolated showers will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will warm into the 60s across the state with a wind out of the northwest. Tonight, we'll cool into the upper 40s and lower 50s with partly cloudy skies. Most of the state should warm into the 70s for Memorial Day. Some may even have a chance to near 80 degrees on Tuesday. Clouds increase on Wednesday ahead of our next rain system.
