The official season of summer begins on Friday, June 20, and will last until September 22. However, summertime temperatures are not confined to just those 94 days. Climate change is creating some new summer weather trends. "What we've experienced there over the past 55 years is we've seen an increase of 11 days on average each summer of above average days, so that means that roughly we're seeing 50-51 days of summer that are above average," says Shel Winkley, a meteorologist at Climate Central.

Mostly cloudy skies will persist through the night as temperatures drop into the 50s. High temperatures will only be in the 60s and 70s again for Monday with mostly cloudy skies expected. Tuesday will warm a little more as humidity gradually increases. A few showers will be possible late Tuesday, but the best chance for rain comes will be the potential for thunderstorms on Thursday. Highs will be back in the 80s on Wednesday before warming to near 90 on Thursday.

Monday is cloudy and cooler with the chance for a few sprinkles, but a much better chance for rain comes tomorrow with a chance for a few rumbles of thunder. Then, sunshine and warmer weather briefly graces Connecticut by the middle of the week. #ctwx #nbcct @NBCConnecticut https://t.co/E7QMRvez8m

Happy Sunday! We're drier and less humid today as temperatures warm further into the 70s. Mostly cloudy skies could provide a few sprinkles this evening and into tomorrow, but most of us stay dry until a better rain chance on Tuesday. #ctwx #nbcct @NBCConnecticut https://t.co/ND49RvvonP

There are so many events going on across the state this weekend--and of course, there's another rain chance today 😢 I'd have the rain gear handy from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday since we're tracking scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder. #ctwx #nbcct @NBCConnecticut https://t.co/4xVYdekRtc
