Kingi will miss this year’s One Love festival in Tauranga due to commitments, but Ihaka will attend solo. The two-day festival features more than 50 artists, including Maoli, Rebel Souljahz and Katchafire, at Wharepai Domain.

    Emergency services were called to a large fire at the Tahorakuri Forest area near Reporoa on Wednesday. Rotorua firefighters want people to be aware of fire restrictions and potential dangers as dry conditions and strong winds increase the risks. It comes after three helicopters were used to fight a 19ha scrub fire in the Tahorakuri Forest area near Reporoa on Wednesday. A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said on Friday four crews were still on site, double-checking their firebreak.

    Emergency services are at a fire at Tahorakuri Forest in the Taupō District. A spokesperson for Fire and Emergency NZ said multiple calls were received about the vegetation fire and seven crews were in attendance as of 1.40pm. The fire was “approximately 1.5 hectares”, he said. “Approximately 32 firefighters are in attendance currently working with two helicopters,” he said. A police spokesperson said they were assisting with traffic management. There were no evacuations reported. More to come.
