This started with a simple goal: I wanted to be more casual. But the reality is I love my clothes and they are mostly a little more dressed up. I started playing around with my favorite dressed-up pieces and styling to make them more casual, and effortless. It’s always an easy solve to pair things with T-shirt or jeans but I don’t wear tons of tees or jeans so I was excited for a little challenge. Fashion month (6 weeks actually) came to a close last week and I was lucky enough to catch the last few days of shows in Paris. It had been a minute since I have been in a real city and attended back-to-back fashion events. It felt nice to dress for a city again- wearing coats that are meant to be the outfit, shoes that you need walk all day in, tailoring that is meant for standing not sitting, pieces that are meant to go from work to evening.

To me, there is nothing more uniform than a button-down and a sweater. It’s the epitome of the uniform concept. I was reminded of this combo last week when Sarah Harrelson, amazing EIC/Founder of Cultured Magazine, posted a photo of herself wearing this and it was so perfectly put together. I also think of Prada store employees who are usually wearing some iteration of this pairing—and they are so sophisticated. Miuccia Prada wears it a lot, too.

We are back!Our baby girl arrived about 3 weeks ago and she is perfect. While we have been hunkered down I have been thinking about what I am excited to wear when we are ready to venture out. This time of year I am never happy about summer ending but also get excited to start wearing fall clothes. I took a little look back at photos from the past couple years during this transitional season and pulled out some of my go to items that usually hold me over for this end of summer early fall time.
