It’s hard being a mom of a child with a disability. It’s even harder being that child. Worse yet is not knowing where to go for help. That’s why I was happy to see Gov. Eric Holcomb’s announcement on Monday of a new initiative for children who have “high acuity needs.” “High acuity” is medical speak for someone whose needs are higher than the person sitting next to them. The higher the acuity, the more severe the condition which needs to be addressed.
